How it works

Cover a photo, step by step

  1. Add photos

Open the editor and pick JPEG, PNG or WebP photos. Originals stay untouched, and you can add up to ten at once.

  2. Cover

Tap the shutter and faces get stickers. Cover names and plates yourself with a rectangle, ellipse or cloud. For text, a solid cover beats blur.

Drag to draw a cover. Choose Select / edit to move or resize one. On a keyboard, arrows move, Shift + arrows resize (add Alt for 10-pixel steps) and Delete removes it.

  3. Look over the whole photo

Before saving, look over the whole photo and its edges. After any change, check the result again.

  4. Save and share

Save or share right away. Each photo in a set gets its own look; any that fail stay marked and are never swapped for originals.

Which photos work

Up to ten photos at once. Each can be up to 24 megapixels, 20 MiB and 8,192 pixels a side. Photos over 12 megapixels are shrunk on your device for editing, and the new size is shown; the original file is untouched. Past 32 megapixels or 64 MiB in total, or when memory runs short, you may be asked for fewer or smaller photos.

Saved photos are new files. Covers stay solid; colour and compression may differ slightly from the original.

PNG compresses the new output without quality loss, but resizing and editing can change pixels from the original. JPEG and WebP may also shift pixels near a cover's edge, so check the saved photo up close.

Open "Fit a file size limit" in the save area to look for JPEG or WebP settings within your limit. The target may not be met. Apply a proposal, then check the changed photo again. You can also make a separate cover image from a checked photo, and choose which photos go in the ZIP.

Calculate size and PPI without a photo

The shutter can find faces and place stickers, but it does not automatically find license plates or names. Check and cover any missed faces and text yourself.
